Price alerts: how to watch a route without staring at it

A price alert watches a route (and sometimes dates) and emails you when the tracked level moves. It is not a reservation. By the time you open the message, the fare can be gone. That is still better than checking three times a day by hand.

When alerts help

You are watching a holiday trip months out, or a weekend getaway with flexible days. You can buy within a few hours of the email. You care about a USD total, not a screenshot from last week.

When they do not
